Strategy
Our strategy is to become the provider of choice amongst patients, general practitioners and commissioners for an increasing range of healthcare services.
Working together with NHS Trusts, Strategic Health Authorities and Primary Care Trusts, we provide additional capacity and capability, contributing to a quality public health service, free at the point of need and delivered at a cost effective price.
Our services are built upon fundamental principles
Patient care
Patient care is central to our organisational and management philosophy. We invest in staff training to ensure full compliance with NHS policies including patient confidentiality, clinical audit and informed consent. We employ medical professionals throughout our management team.
Our people
Only doctors who are listed on the General Medical Council specialist register can practice their specialty in ISTCs, and this is the highest standard of medical accreditation that is available. They follow an appraisal process agreed with the Department of Health. All our nurses and allied health professionals comply with UK registration requirements and undertake continued professional development.
Clinical pathways
Our pathways draw upon Royal College and NICE guidelines, ensuring consistency of treatment. Our Medical Advisory Committees give us access to a range of expertise in maintaining and enhancing pathways.
Clinical governance
Our Clinical Governance and Medical Advisory Committees, including NHS and independent consultants, advise and oversee our clinical governance processes. The Healthcare Commission inspects each facility twice yearly.
Performance measurement
Our heavy investment in technology means detailed data can be analysed daily to ensure outcomes are within clinical parameters, and validated. Some 25 key performance indicators are presented to the Department of Health, many on a daily basis.
