What is OC123?

OC123 is the name the Department of Health has given to its contract with Netcare for the performance of cataract surgery using mobile cataract units. The contract comprises the delivery of pre-operative assessments, surgery and post-operative care, and involves looking after 45,000 patients over a 5 year period. The units travel between different locations to ensure that patients have access to a local service. Procedures are undertaken under local anaesthesia.
