Improving quality

We are committed to improving the quality of our care through reputable memberships.

Employers Forum on Disability

Netcare strives to set the standard in disability management in the independent healthcare sector, and we are Gold Members of the Employers Forum on Disability.

The Forum was established by UK business and launched by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1991. It currently has 400 members who between them employ 20% of UK workforce, joint funding a unique central expert resource which makes it easier to employ disabled people and welcome disabled customers.

The Forum is the world’s leading employer’s organisation focused on disability as a business as well as a societal priority.

The Forum’s Disability Standard is the world’s only comprehensive audit tool on disability. An integral part of the Disability Standard, the unique Benchmark Survey, enables the private and public sectors to assess their performance on disability as it affects risk management, customer care, employment, occupational health, premises and buildings, IM&T systems, accessibility of goods and services and the impact of government policy.

Direct Enquiries

Direct Enquiries is an online access register that gives businesses and service providers an opportunity to communicate information about their access and facilities, both currently provided and future intentions.

In association with two of the country’s leading charities, RADAR (The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation) and the Employers’ Forum on Disability, the register provides details about reasonable accommodation, facility access, and service requirements. This encompasses everything from entrances, lifts, toilets, counter heights, lighting, auxiliary aids such as Braille, large print, induction loops and lap trays, all the way through to staff assistance.

Netcare is registered with Direct Enquiries who provide us with Direct Enquiries.com, the Nationwide Disabled Access Register. This provides a single source of information regarding access and facilities for any building that may be open to the general public in the UK.

Direct Access, partnered to Direct Enquiries, has also assessed the accessibility of the Netcare Greater Manchester Surgical Centre and mobile ophthalmic units for persons with disabilities. We will continue with this drive to allow accessible facilities and service to all our establishments through providing the necessary accommodation.

Commitment and staff involvement with the British Quality Foundation

Netcare is committed to the British Quality Foundation (BQF), a not-for-profit membership organisation that promotes business excellence to private, public and voluntary organisations. The BQF is Europe’s largest corporate membership organisation promoting performance improvement and excellence.

The EFQM Excellence Model was introduced at the beginning of 1992 as the framework for assessing applications for The UK Business Excellence Award. It is the most widely used organisational framework in Europe where it has become the basis for the majority of national and regional Quality Awards. This section includes a detailed description of the fundamental concepts of excellence and the Excellence Model framework.
